What You Learn in Beginner Lessons
Every beginner lesson builds safe habits and strong fundamentals from day one.
Range Safety
Proper range etiquette, safe handling of equipment, and the rules that keep everyone safe. This comes first before any arrows fly.
Stance & Posture
How to stand, position your feet, and align your body so that every shot starts from a consistent, repeatable foundation.
Grip & Loading
How to hold the bow without torquing it and how to load an arrow correctly. Small details here make a big difference downrange.
Anchor & Aim
Finding your anchor point and learning the aiming steps that let you place arrows where you want them, consistently.
Release & Follow-Through
A controlled release and steady follow-through are what separate accurate shooters from everyone else. We build this from the start.
Your Next Steps
By the end of your beginner lessons, you’ll know where you stand and what the next step looks like — whether that’s advanced coaching, competition, or hunting.
Who Lessons Are For
We teach youth and adults at every stage of the sport.
Ages 7 and Up
We recommend starting at age 7, but the right starting age depends on the individual child’s strength and discipline. Some younger kids are ready earlier and some older kids need a bit more time. We assess each child individually during the first session. Adults of all ages and experience levels are welcome — it is never too late to start.
Youth Archers
New youth archers ages 7 and up. We build fundamentals, confidence, and discipline. Our youth program has produced state champions and nationally ranked archers.
Adult Beginners
Never held a bow? No problem. Adults learn the same structured fundamentals in a private, pressure-free setting. All equipment is provided.
Families & Pairs
Bring a friend, a spouse, or a child. Beginner lessons accommodate up to 2 people for $120. A great way to try the sport together.
Frequently Asked Questions
Common questions about archery lessons at Archery Sarasota.
How much do archery lessons cost in Sarasota?
Beginner lessons are $80 per hour for one person or $120 per hour for two people. A 3-lesson beginner package is $250 paid at the first session. Advanced lessons are $100 per hour with a USA Archery Level 3 coach.
What age can kids start archery lessons?
We recommend ages 7 and up, but the right age depends on the child’s strength and discipline. We evaluate each child individually. Some kids are ready a bit earlier, and some need a little more time.
Do I need my own bow for archery lessons?
For beginner lessons, no. All equipment is provided — bows, arrows, and safety gear. For advanced lessons, you bring your own equipment. Advanced coaching is designed to help you master your own bow setup.
Do you teach recurve or compound archery?
We specialize in compound archery, but our USA Archery Level 3 coach also teaches recurve. Beginner lessons typically start on compound, and advanced archers can train in either discipline.
What do you learn in a beginner archery lesson?
Beginner lessons cover range safety and etiquette, how to stand and grip the bow, loading an arrow, proper posture and alignment, anchor position and aiming, and controlled release with follow-through. These fundamentals prepare you for advanced training.
What are advanced archery lessons for?
Advanced lessons are for archers who want to perfect their skills, prepare for USA Archery or ASA tournaments, or get ready for a western big game hunt. Our Level 3 coach tailors each session to your specific goals and ambitions.
Can two people take a beginner archery lesson together?
Yes. Beginner lessons accommodate up to 2 people for $120 per hour. The maximum is 2 per session for safety. This is a popular option for couples, parent-child sessions, or friends trying archery for the first time.
