About · A Credo

We don’t move product.
We build archers.

A service-first Archery Development Center in Sarasota, Florida. Built by two coaches, a friendship, and a belief that doing right by every archer who walks through the door matters more than moving inventory.

The Credo

What We Stand On.

Six rules we actually live by. They decide every choice we make — from how we book to how we hand back a tuned bow.

01

Service over sales.

Honest recommendation beats made sale. We’d rather lose the dollar than build the relationship on the wrong arrow.

02

Appointment only.

No counter line. No wait. When you book, the entire Center is focused on you, your bow, your time. It’s the only way the work gets done right.

03

Faith- driven.

The business was started through prayer and built on faith. Every decision — how we treat people, how we handle work, how we run the Center — reflects that foundation.

04

Work hard. No whining.

Rob’s standing rule. Results come from effort. Whether you’re a youth archer chasing a state title or an adult shooting for the first time, we expect the work and we match it.

05

Every archer matters.

First-timer or national-level competitor — same attention, same care. The service doesn’t change based on skill level or what you bought. People aren’t tiers.

06

Built on friendship.

Rob and Scott were friends before they were partners. That foundation shows in everything they do. The business exists because two coaches believe in the same things.

How It Started

From a Dad Coaching His Sons, to an Archery Development Center.

Archery Sarasota didn’t start as a business plan. It started as a coach helping his kids and a friend who needed his bow worked on. Here’s how it grew.

1

A Dad Coaching His Four Sons

Rob got into coaching because his boys were shooting. As they grew and the competitive team developed, so did the work — tuning bows, building arrows, dialing in equipment for archers who wanted more than a typical archery shop could offer.

2

An FWC Officer Asked for Help

A friend, an FWC officer, knew what Rob was doing with tournament archery and bow setup. He asked Rob for a string replacement and a full tune. When the work was done, he told Rob he needed to offer this service to others — he couldn’t find it anywhere locally.

3

Two Sides, Split Cleanly

After prayer and seeking wisdom, Rob added a basic services page to the team site — and it took off. The team became Sarasota Archery Academy, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The services grew into Archery Sarasota, the for-profit Archery Development Center. Same range. Two distinct purposes.

4

Scott Becomes a Partner

Rob was booked seven days a week handling builds, tunes, lessons, and advanced coaching. Scott Reed — a team dad who naturally helped other kids during practice — got certified, took over beginner instruction, and was asked to become a partner. Friendship turned into a service business. The Coaches

Two Coaches. One Standard.

Two roles, two specialties, one shared line: every archer who walks in gets the Center’s best.

Robert Gilbert, USA Archery Level 3 Coach and Co-Owner of Archery Sarasota
Co-Owner · Head Coach

Robert Gilbert

USA Archery Level 3 · NTS Certified

Rob first stepped into coaching to support his four sons on their archery journey, and never looked back. As the team’s bow technician and head coach, he’s the go-to for dialing in equipment and fine-tuning athletes — treating every shooter like a bow that just needs the right adjustment.

His program has produced multiple USA Archery state champions, ASA Shooters of the Year, top 10 USA Archery national rankings, and a top 3 ASA national ranking — all youth archers developed from the ground up.

“Work hard, and absolutely no whining.

Co-Owner · Beginner / Youth Coach

Scott Reed

USA Archery Level 2 Instructor

Scott jokes that he’s old, cranky, and always late, but don’t let the humor fool you. Behind the gruff exterior is a patient, soft-hearted coach who genuinely cares about helping kids and adults reach their potential.

He started as a team dad — watching, listening, and stepping in to help other kids when Rob was stretched thin. Rob saw what Scott was doing and talked him into getting certified. Scott now leads every beginner lesson and is the first face most new archers see when they walk in.

People mix these up all the time. Both operate from the Castle Dr range. Both share coaches. They are legally and operationally distinct — and they do different work.
